So, I plan on installing a Predator 10K on my 2007 Ford Escape but don't want to drill a big hole in the roof for the hockey puck mount. My plan was to use the horizontal roof rack crossbeams as a support and retrofit something onto that so I could mount the puck. Big problem though. The end caps of the horizontal beams are plastic. So while the actual horizontal beams are metal, they attach to the roof with plastic ends. I fear those plastic ends cracking on the highway from the wind drag from the antenna.

So, any thoughts/ideas? As you all know, the Predator has alot of wind drag, especially with a shaft that is going to be at least 17", hence the reason I'd like to go with the fat hockey puck sized mount. I've had success with this mount before, but that was when I had the van and didn't mind drilling holes. Help... Thanks.

PS, If any of the moderators here feel this belongs in a better topic area, please feel free to move it there, thanks, feels good to be back.
