This was posted on the MGB Forum in response to a question about adding relays to the headlights. No prizes for seeing why this is just so wrong. " As originally configured, without the relay, the switch can't handle the amperage, but it will handle the ground just fine. By using that logic... Why not just switch the whole car over to positive ground so the switch only has to switch ground potential??? Same logic. Don't worry... It will feel better when it stops hurting. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Milkman - 833 was being sarcastic. The post was about stupid suggestions that can be made to resolve a simple issue. Doesn't matter if the switch is controlling the source or teh ground connection, it still carries the same amount of current. Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

Yes, was just being sarcastic. Part of the human condition which I find amusing. The problem described is a simple one, to which a complex (yet incomplete) solution was requested and offered. I simply offered an equally complex and incomplete solution to which the problem would not be resolved. And, for the record, I drive a positive ground vehicle nearly every day. Now hold on here just a minute. Don't leave us hanging to guess what you drive. I am old enough to know that if it is positive, it might just be a real humdinger of a vehicle!! Am I right? Keith in Atlanta CEF 150 |
