I wired an Astatic Silver Eagle Mic to a fourth and last generation Madison, the one with the digital clock and 8719 PLL as follows. There is no audio! I checked to make sure there is no short and didn't find any. Where do I go from here? Did I wire it correctly? Pin #1 ~ White Pin #2 ~ Shield Pin #3 ~ Black Pin #4 ~ Blue Pin #5 ~ Red Yellow N/C |

Wiring looks correct. Could be a bad head, amplifier problem, Radio problem.....Fresh battery??..... Alles ist besser mit Soße! No I'm not a Tech,I just know enough to be a nuisance.

I found the problem. The mic was new to me so I hadn’t confirmed it to be functional. The radio is in good working order with the stock mic. What I did was try the mic with it disassembled looking for a short and it worked. When reassembling I noticed the switch was in a position with a little pressure on it. I was able to bend the switch mount so there was a few thousands of an inch between the switch and lever. The condition had the switch depressed enough that receive was open but transmit was not activated. After adjustment it works like a champ. Thanks for your comment I was beginning to think no one cared. Kirk |
