Thing is it would be hard to try and keep the unscrupulous people and businesses from selling stuff on the forum which would not be good for Copper NOR the genuine individual and would give the Forummaster and us moderators a heck of a lot more work which we do for free in our own time , ok in an ideal world it would work but we don't live in an ideal world look at how many folks get ripped off buying things from bad sellers on ebay and other forums and they always seem to find a backdoor way of doing it regardless of how hard people try to stop them just the way our societies have gone nowadays . I personally would like to see such an idea work but would not like to see any of our members getting a bum deal .

There's no way this could work since the forum is supported by Copper Electronics. People would be trying to sell some of the same equipment as Copper has for sell. It might be used but would still be competition for Copper.

I don't think that is exactly the issue.

In fact, Copper has never once told me to only suggest or recommend products they sell, nor has Copper ever stopped me from suggesting products others sell. In fact, in some reviews I have done on Copper cataloged products that did not test well, Copper has supported my honesty, even if it hurts. This also means that when a Copper Electronics review has glowing remarks about a product, you can believe it is a good product!

Selling something that is used, but also carried new from Copper isn't going to hurt Copper, it will only help them by creating a market for used gear, which means that if you buy something and outgrow it later, you know there will be someone willing to buy it, and you will get a good price for it. That makes it easier to sell new equipment to customers who know it won't be worthless after they use it for a little while. Buyer confidence!

I suspect the reason there is no classifieds here is because Copper doesn't need the liability of products sold to their customers and forum subscribers by people who misrepresent the products advertised for sale. Imagine if some dirtbag started selling stuff that didn't work, stating that it did. Would the buyer only be mad at that seller? Nope, they would get mad at Copper too. That would be counterproductive for Copper.

Back to my other point... There have even been times that I reviewed a product for Copper that I thought was not up to Copper's standards for product quality or value, and from my recommendations, Copper ended up not carrying the product. That is a company that really wants their customers to be happy, and not sell anything that isn't up to par. Even though some of those items might have been extremely profitable, the end result was that hurt feelings and dis-satisfied customers simply wasn't worth it. If some of the big-box retailers would do the same, imagine how much nicer it would be!
