I have been trying with no luck trying to put a new mic on my htx-100. All I have is a couple mics from a president HR 2510 and a cobra 148 gtl. I had bought a 8 pin fitting from Radio shack and have tried to wire it up but I have had no luck. I am not sure about the 8V pin on the htx and what thats does either. Basically I need a new mic for the HTX and I am trying to wire up something new using hopefully the HR2510 since it has the channel up and down. I have the pin layouts on all the mentioned radios and I have wired and rewired but I am missing something. Anyone who might be able to help please do.

Are the mics original equipment on the 2500 & 148 or are the aftermarket?

OR

do you still know which mic wire colors went to which pins on the hr2500 & cobra 148??

knowing this would help figure out hoozie whatsits (technical term) to help change the mic over.....

on most microphones the shield wire (no insulation) will be wrapped around the audio hot lead which will need to go to pin 1

One potential problem i see is that it looks like the radio wants a separate PTT Ground pin 8 from the mic audio ground (shield) pin 7.

Are you able to separate the function with the mic you have ( for example the D104 blue[PTT] & shield [Mic-] wires serve these functions

DO NOT PLAY WITH PIN 5 IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU CAN DAMAGE THE MIC OR THE RADIO!!_

The 148 and President are original mics I still have the original radios as well however my president is sadly being parted out. Now in my wiring I did try bridging 7 and 8 of course no success. Do you suggest shield wire on 1? Below is what I have found on the different mics.

148
1-Audio,2-Shield,3-Receive,4- Switching,5-Transmit

2510
1-Audio,2-Shield,3-Transmit,4- Channel Up,5-Channel Down

HTX
1-Microphone input,*2-Push to talk,*3-Scan down,
*4-Scan up,5-8 Volts,6-Audio out,7-Microphone Ground,8-Ground

The wire that the shield is wrapped around is usually the mic+ lead. The shield would go to Mic ground (pin 7) and the wire it is wrapped around would go to 1.

Using your info for the 148 Mic

Pin 1 audio on the 148 would go to pin 1 on the HTX

pin 2 shield (148) would go to pin 7 HTX

Pin 3 RX (148) would not be used

Pin 4 switching (148) would go to pin 8 HTX

Pin 5 TX (148) would go to pin 2 HTX

I hope you remember which wire colors went where.

if the HR microphone doesn't have a separate switching wire I don't know if it will work with that particular radio by jumping pins 7 & 8 together without a schematic. I would think the 2 are separated for a reason though.
