Lonnie Butler(Tech808) passed away yesterday. Lonnie was a good friend. This is a sad day for the cb and ham community we have lost one of our best. He was a mainstay of the forum. He was always helpful. I will miss him greatly. Lonnie and Shirley back together again may God keep the sun on their faces and the wind at their backs. Forummaster CEF001 CVC001

We should not be sad that Lon and Shirley is no longer with us here on earth, You want to see them again? Live your lives well and you and I will unite with them again in a much better place. Yes they will be missed by many of us. We must all get along well and keep Copper alive and well for them as that is what they would want. They left Copper for us to enjoy, We shall laugh in good times and always be thinking of them. They help build this forum for us and we all made many great friends along the way. Some of us have even met eye to eye and become great friends, Something that would of never happen if it wasn't for Lon building this forum. We have a lot to thank him for. Thank You Lonnie and Shirley. You well be missed but never forgot my Friends George/Starface/KI4NBE PS. Forumaster (Chester) Please if you would let his family know to put him as a SK on the FCC/QRZ.com TY N9CEF/SK LONNIE R BUTLER |

Sorry...Just browsing again and JUST learned of Shirley as well....speechless..a total loss for words. So sorry I missed all this..they will both be missed. All I can think about is the laughs we all had on that Voice chat thing since the beginning...what was that thing about milking penquins again Izzy? Or was it polar bears? I still remember my eyes tearing for hours that night...Hal was no help! George is right..someday we'll all see each other face to face in a much better place~ 73 my friends Lon&Shirley (anybody ELSE I should know about!?) My family and I want to express our fellings of loss! While we may not have known Lon and Shirley personally, we did enjoy reading all their postings which displayed a small insight into who they were. We still have all those postings right here on this forum to keep them alive in our hearts. Wally/Pressman/KC4ZWM

Well, well, Lon was such a major part of copper forum. I know he personally e-mailed me on several occasions and always had helpful advise. Sometimes he would get your attention if you got a little bit off base with your radio logic...I had no idea he was that sick. Life is so full of mysteries. He will be missed. He was the number one Tech as far as I'm concerned. Wow.. |

As another had said, I don't get out much. Last I was here I had read the sad news of Shirley passing. Now I see that Lon has passed. It's funny how time passes and seems like we don't have time for this and that. And then, we're gone. Back a few years ago, I was on this forum everyday. And Lon was a huge part of that! I don't suspect I'll get out here any more than I have....an occasional look every few months...but I did want to pass on my condolences to the remaining family. It sounded as if Lon did what he loved to do in life and probably lost a majority of the reason for living when Shirley passed. Heaven will be a wonderful place when we get there. Maybe the good Lord will have radios for us to play on when we get there. One never knows. God Bless you Lon and your wonderful wife. Till we meet again. ...-.- |

I have been gone for a long time and then saw a post about Lon, then found this, I'm speechless to say the least, Lon was a great guy and huge help with this site and copper in general, like has been said though, he's finally home and with his wife again, which I also didn't know about until now. I was just reading one of his post a few days ago about coax, wondering where he went. I did not know he had passed. I did know Shirley passed. Lon always stepped up to help a fellow operator. I have been overseas myself until recently, but before I left I chatted with Lon often, what a great book of knowledge he was. RIP Lon and Shirley. Tim |
