***UPDATE***
Well everything was going fine up until yesterday. She started to feel sick and not doing so well. Took her to ER and they are shipping her back to where she had the surgery by ambulance. She had a CAT scan done an they are saying that the left side of her brain is collapsing and not working properly. Need all the prayers that we can get.

Shirley~808xyl and I will keep you both in our thought's and prayer's.
Stay strong my friend and take comfort that you and Amber have many friend's here and we will all be praying for you and Amber to have a speedy recovery.

Thanks George, Izzy and Spring. I did get to talk to her fer a brief minute. They finally got her on the surgical floor an will see the doc in the morning. I will keep everyone updated as I find out more.

Thanks Jim and Mike. I just made it to the hospital. The van broke down half way here but it just miraculously started runnin just fine after sitting 20 minutes lol anyways, she is doing good considering the situation. They aren't telling her much if anything at all. Said something bout a spinal tap earlier and that's all they have said. Still haven't done the spinal though so I don't know what is going on. will update as I find out more.

They did spinal tap this afternoon. They are going to take her down in the early morning to reprogram her shunt so we will HOPEFULLY be home in time to spend a little bit of Easter with the kids

Amber wasn't able to come home for Easter, but she did come home yesterday!! She feels a little better but looks a whole lot better than the 1st time.

As some of you know, my wife had a shunt put in back in March of this year. Everything was going good until about a month ago. The tube that runs from teh shunt down to her stomach decided it wanted to make a presence. She has 3 small holes the size of a dime each on her head where the tube is showing itself. looks freakin kewl but gross at the same time LOL Anyways, she went and finally got to see the surgeon Monday. But before I get to that, she went and seen our new family physician last Friday. This doc has worked with neurology and a neurosurgeon the last 2 yrs. She starts asking Amber a bunch of questions that neither of us had any answers for. She was reading from an MRI report(from 2008) mind you, and asked Amber if she knew what the 2 lesions on her brain meant. Of course neither of us knew the answer. This is where the the bad news starts. She explained that the lesions an the excess water that she has can be caused from MS. That's bad news #1 Bad news #2 is when she asked Amber if she knew what the white mass was on her brain. Again, neither of us knew. She says, "that's the the first sign of Dementia." Now mind you all, she is only 33 yrs old and gets pretty much slapped in the face twice in the same day! what pisses me off more than anything is that the MRI she was looking at was from 2008!!! 2 flipping years ago!!Then of course when she sees the 3 dime sized holes and tells us that they might have shave her head yet once again! she said that more than likely it will be need to be replaced.
Now this is where the neurosurgeon comes in. We drive 2 hrs to the appointment for him to take one look at her head to tell her she needs to have surgery next week! He said either at the end of this week or next, NO later as he is worried about infection setting in. He did mention that he "thought" he put the tube far enough under her scalp and that her skin should have grown back over the tube right. Boy, was he wrong or what? His nurse knew about this 3 months ago when there was only one tiny hole the size of a pencil eraser. Mind you we were only in his office 3 minutes when he tells us about the surgery. Then he starts walking out the door and I stop him and ask him about what the family doc said. Here is where I should have went to jail! He tells me he cant either confirm or deny the report and the possibility of MS cause he didn't see anything unusual when he did the surgery. All he could say is that he will do a MRI prior to surgery to see if he sees anything. Now what I want to know is, I am almost positive he read that report from 2008 as he has read ALL of her previous MRI's, How the hell can you NOT see the same thing as the family doc? Needless to say I was pretty pissed! Then I asked him about the Dementia, again, he wont deny or confirm but did say that his initial thought was the same as what the family doc told us.
What really kills me is that that it has taken 2 yrs for her to find out about the MS and Dementia. They could have been treating her but NO, the damn neurosurgeon just happened to overlook some key things! He did say that he will go over every report an see what those read and will be able to tell us better if she does have MS or not. The Dementia is a guarantee unfortunately.
I apologize for all the ranting and I didn't do it so people will feel sorry for her as she has stated she is going to take whatever they throw at her. She WILL NOT let either disease or the surgery beat her. She WILL fight any of it head on and NOT let it get her down. I just wish I had the heart and determination that she has as I know she is scared to all hell but WILL NOT show it for the sake of the kids.
All I ask is for people to ask the good lord to watch over her and pray for her during these tough times and specially the upcoming surgery. She DOES NOT know that I am asking for help because she is like me, she HATES asking for anything, but I will let her know who and what the posts say

Shes gone this long with the Good Lord and will over come this,,, it's all about faith.. and you don't need much but the more of us praying for her the faster she will heal... God Bless you both.

That sorta news would have sent me over the edge and landed me in jail , that surgeon needs to be struck off or something , tell Amber to stick in there and keep the faith our prayers are with you both my friend .

Thanks guys. She is having surgery Wed morning at 7:30am. That means we have to leave the house by 4am to get there in time  I will keep everyone updated as best I can.

Thanks Lon. Shirley must have been watching down as the surgery went well. They had to remove part of the shunt as it was poking thru the skin an she got an infection. She is home and resting now

She has to go back in 5 weeks to see the surgeon and see if they are going to put the shunt back in. SO far she hasn't had any real bad headaches, so that's a plus We both wish we would have been able to get down an meet both of you before Shirley passed. We have talked and are hoping we can make it down to at least put the eyeball on you
