So how about some chat....What do you all think about Copper launching a full blown Radio Service Center? Here are some details: 1)Tracking your equipment ON LINE! Check status and movement of the equipment you send in for repair. Notification is instant on problems , cost , ect. 2)Three day turnaround on MOST repairs. 3)Most brands serviced especially all that Copper carries. 4)Alignment done with calibrated equipment. 5)Everything serviced gets a full re-alignment with NO-CHARGE. 6)Pre-estimates via email BEFORE YOU SEND IT IN can be arranged within a limit IF the unit is all in order and a list of exact problems is described. 7)Exact replacement parts , NO substitutes unless part is no longer made. 8)Huge parts stock for rapid repairs including cosmetic parts. 9) Generated "ball park" prices will be listed in the catalog as well as on line for units that fall into a repair catagory. No guess work. Make note that this is the beginning... |

307 : Great idea 307, That is what is needed. I know I would be glad to have that kind of service program, to use when needed. I know one thing for sure, you did a great "excellent" job doing repair and etc on my galaxy melaka. I'm a very happy camper using the so called term, to express my confidence in your honesty, and ability. Hope this service plan can be motion . Thanks Very Much. Rosco 308 Indiana. Bob T. The CB community is in dire need of qualified service that people can count on. Modestly priced and timely turnaround is a plus. |

Sounds like a winner to me. Could have used it two or three times this year! But I would love to have that option. Might be a whole new era for Coppers. And that can only be a good thing! |

#307, Well now, does Coppers pay extra for these bright ideas? This would be one of the finest radio shops around I am sure. But there would need to be several steps taken to assure that you guys wouldn't get stiffed. I am sure Coppers has considerd this too. I for one would use this service on a regular basis. I run across radios all the time that are a good deal. I used to be able to service some of them on my own, But durring a period in my life of hard times I was forced to give it up,(seems my kids wanted to eat)durring a extended period of unemployment. Now with five kids all home and the youngest only three. I find quiet time hard to come by, except when I am out on my Harley Ultra Classic. For now I leave it up to someone else. But in short... Yes,YES,YES by all means this would be of a great intrest to many of us. There are a lot of back room hacks that try to do work and just cause work. Then their is the guy(had this personaly happen to me) that never even opens you radio and tells you he peaked it. My friend had taken his Cobra 148 to a local shop to have peaked and tuned. This shop was extreemly busy at all times. When he got it back he noticed no difference in any of his meter readings. So we ask the shop the following week to tuneup mine, Saying that I liked the way his sounded after his tune-up. The guy was such a jerk he smiled and said he could do it while we waited. Taking the radio he went to the back where repairs were done and as others were being taken care of buy his wife and another "Tech" he employed he tuned our radio. It took only about 9 minutes before he returned, He spoke loudly as he handed it back to us saying "It was easier because he had just done several of the 148's that day and it was fresh in his mind". Imagine his surprize as we unscrewed the cover as others in the shop watched. All the time him asking what we were doing, stating it would void any service that he just preformed I ask him if there was anything odd about the speaker in the radio he answerd not that I seen.In side was a hand written note with a new fifty dollar bill attached to it. On the note I had written: Please take any and all service fees for the tune up from this fifty and return the change at the time of pick-up. When we read this aloud he got so loud and vulgar yelling at us to leave we didn't even put the radio back together in the shop. You should have heard the air waves that night in our area...LOL....Well please let me know when this service is going to Start, I have a President HR-2510 that need serviced, Wanna know why? I think that is a very good idea. People need techs they can trust, and under Copper's auspices, this would be enough for me. |

One heck of an idea! Too many people talk smack about knowing what to do when they don't. I know it sure would be nice to send radios to a reputable place that wouldn't take you and give honest feedback or repairs. |

307, That seems like a really good Idea. This whole forum is the best thing since sliced bread.I have learned so much about different people and alot of tips on many different kinds of radios.I get a kick out of Vernonott talking about the mexicans over riding his s meter.I liked the pic of highlander with the drink in his hand. And sodapops religion to keep things straight around here.I espiecially like to here everybody's opinion on all the equipment.Radios,amps.power supplies,ect...Thats where you here the truth, not some infamercial where the audience gets paid by looking like an idiot clapping and raving about the product when they have never tried it or had anything to compare it to.Thats why I spend alot of time on epinions.com.Well, thanks again for this wonderful forum.I hope it never gets passed by the wayside. As long as somebody brings up a topic, there will always be somebody with a comment.A rule of conversation...Eddie |

Thoughts on Radio repairing: I think it would be great to have a dependable, and affordable radio repair shop people could use with confidence. If you have a nice radio that you like very well, and would cost a couple hundred dollars or more to replace, it would be worthwhile to repair. However, if your broke radio can be replaced in the hundred dollar range, to me it would not be worth the repair and shipping expense, which I gotta think would start in the 40-50 bucks range. Those types are what I call disposable radios, use them till they quit, sell for parts, or part'em for your own use, and buy another. The same applies for a used radio you might buy, if its not working right, or is broke, no telling what a tech will find inside that thing. just my thoughts. scrapiron |

Well , I appriciate all the input you all are giving , it looks like we are going to kick this thing off and I really would like all the feedback I can get. Please excuse the delay in getting it started. Copper and I want it to be the best radio repair center you can find. We want it to last so we are working all the details out in advance. I submitted a page or two in the Copper Catalog that explains some things. Be on the look out. 307

Hi 307.I think that the repair center would round out the type of business that Copper Electronics is involved in and there is a definite market. Honesty, reliability, and a friendly staff is hard to find in the retail business. If you can run the repair shop in the same way that you run the retail store, you can't help but succeed! |

message to 307, this the type of service we are all looking for, I had this problem with this outfit in east Texas, yhey were going to replace the radio, they were going to repair it for nothing, sent it to them, they sat on it eight days sent it back to me unopened:; 307 offered to help me out and he done so, I was right all along they never even opened the radio before they shipped it. He found a jumper that needed to be removed and one to be moved over, something they must have OVERLOOKED. Anyway I sent it to him and he took care of the problem and I got it back today, now i have a great radio thanks to 307. And again thanks to 307 for a job well done and very reasonable.. DEAN- |

Awsome Idea 307, it would be great to have a very qualified tech that could work on radio's, We have a tech up here that is supposed to be good but I have never done business with him, I have been on here long enough and have gotton answers from you enough to tell me that you know what the heck you are doing, I'm sure I would take advantage of the fact that someone who knew what they were doing would work on my radio equipment.\ 73's |
