The same thing here Bigbob, we once had a crew of around 30 folks. Now the local group has 8, and only 4 are on every night. But we do have a good time anyways. But a few more locals would be nice! |

vernonott Good for you i like AM and as soon as i get my new shack built i will be on it. You know SSB sounds sike a bunch of sea sick donald ducks i like to call it Sciencetiffic Set Back. O well some may disagree but nothing nicer than a high level plate modulated tap screen grid negitive feedback system... sounds like the live person not some drunk duck. Lissen 7.290-7.295 and 29.0-29.15 these guys make memorys come back. |

Bigbob: It's good that most of your pals have moved away. Most of my pals have moved to thier resting place.I still have a few to chat with when the local deer hunters club isn't telling us we are interfering with thier channel.Usually I tell these guys I was talking on 27.105 when they were in diapers. |

6m AM is one of the better sounding modes, IMHO. I've heard some guys up there that make the local broadcast AM stations sound like telephones. One of my better 6m AM stations was a Hallicrafters SR46a($10 AT ESTATE SALE) with Daiwa RF speech processor($10 AT HAMFEST) running about 40%, Sennheiser MD421u mic($100 FROM USED BROADCAST DISTRIBUTOR) and Cushcraft Boomer yagi(FREE AT ESTATE SALE). Running about 15w into a Fist 6m amp($25 AT HAMFEST) for 50-70w out, I could hit all coasts, Central and South America, Canada and Hawaii no prob when the band opened up. Most would comment on the "velvety" audio quality. Cheap thrills on 6m! If you are not familiar with the radio, here's a link to one- http://www.w9wze.org/Restorations/SR46A_KB9TMY.htm |
