Hi folks. I'm sorta new in the world of radios and I'm hoping someone can answer this. I have a Uniden PC76XL running with a Wilson 2000 Trucker antenna. My problem is I had to move the radio to another truck last week and when I set it back up, it was matched perfectly(SWR didn't even move off of 1). Trouble is now it won't stay matched. Checked today and SWR was @ 3.5. What gives? Driving me nuts trying to figure it out. Any feedback would be appreciated.

When moving a radio from one vehicle to another SWR's should be rechecked so many things can change. As example: truck body style, trailor, area of antenna, ground,...many truckers change trucks(slip seating)everyday. I can't imagine them reseting it everyday, not saying there aren't some who do though. My next point is,(this is just from personal experience)"NEVER" trust the SWR metter in the radio. I have seen too many times where someone has peaked the radio and there off by enough to fool you into thinking it is right. Personaly...if you have read the manual on a SuperStar-3900 it states that this receiver maybe operated at a SWR of 2:1 without possible damage to the radio. I know this is not the radio your useing, just remember reading it in there and thought it was quite remarkable! Asking about SWR's, religion, and political is something I try not to get invovled in...maybe "Bruce" will comment on this subject too...he seems like a very knowledgeable gentleman( no sarcasim intended)...well good luck Nomad....73s AND NEVER DRIVE FASTER THAN YOUR ANGEL CAN FLY....Walt...aka...OHIOBIKER"575"

Check the swr with doors closed and away from other objects eg.cars,trucks,buildings,trees.A field or a parking lot to give you 100' of space around your vehicle should work.
