I'd rather use a talkback external speaker, but no pa on this radio....any suggestions??

Penrider,
Add a headphone plug to your External Speaker and plug it in to the headphone jack on the front of the radio or you can connect your external speaker wires to the back of the Headphone jack.
Or if you happen to have a radio shack near you they may have the Headphone reducer from Phono plug to Mini plug.
