Just wondering what hams most favorite antenna is.Mine was a homebrew computer optmized 6 element yagi for 10 meters , 6 elements on a 36 foot boom. This antenna took many years of weather abuse from the harsh winter climate here in Nova Scotia.Great antenna , got me 289 dxcc contries on 10 meters, next best was a homebrew 6 el for 6 meters and netted me 61 dxcc countries om 6 , the best being A73 Marshall Island, number 3 was a twin sloper for 40, 80, and 160 made by Alpha.Hoping other people have had great performance from their favorite antennas. I am happy with my BOZAK 2m vertical and my DIY (14-guage, bare Romex) long-wire (about 50-55 feet) antenna with the Icom AH-4 tuner, 1.8MHz ~ 54MHz with no problems. --Rich |

i love my i-max 2000 for 10-15 i use a 20 meter inverted v on 20 meters only then pick up 17, and 30-80 on my 63 foot long inverted L nothing on 160 yet...no room for anything like that, and i refuse to pay $500 (or any amount of money) on an inferior antenna. i also use a PAR Dynamics OA-50 on 6 meters and a homebrew 1/2 copper j-pole on 144/440 |

I like the A-99 for 10, 12, 15 and 17 meters. A G5RV (1/2 size) does the trick for 20 meters. 40 meters is acceptable with this antenna as well. I have homebrewed a 4 element loop quad for 2 meters that was a great antenna. Various dipole antennas with different feeds(coax with balun, twin lead, direct coax feed) have always been fun to operate. For the best bang for the buck as far as dx goes, (wire) the 10 meter half square is about as good as it gets. In solar cycle peaks and both sides as the conditions improve and then decrease, a half square will deliver the dx. Mobile antenas include resonant(<1.3:1 across the entire band)cb antenna, 10 meter antenna from a cb antenna, 5/8 wave on 2 meters as well as 1/4 wave on that band have done ok by me. 73, de KB5LPA |

For a 'not too much fuss' antenna, I like the GAP Titan. I've had great results with it. |

For HF, an end fed zepp. Cheap to build, simple and effective. Can be very stealthy if need be. VHF and above, depends what you are trying to do. FM repeaters, almost anything. SSB a yagi, horz. polarized of course. sb106. Happy Hamming guys and gals. |
