the radio wont key up most of the time until you push the mic plug toward the back of the radio with it faceing you then it will key up i have tried different mics nothing changed

Hi Matt:
That tells you that there is a problem with the Radio Microphone Conector,not your Microphones.
You going to need to open the Radio and check the Conector inside the Radio for posible loose wires or cold solder join.
Normally is a litle piece of PC-Board attach to the Conector,check for craks or loose wiring.
