Matt, The 100 watter Connex would work very well with the DX1600. I would keep the radio around 100 watts maybe a little more so that your audio sound good! Whats up? Have to many mudducks in your town who need taught a lesson? On the mods for the K40 I don't know. Try looking at the tools on the left of the screen. Click on modification list. |

Thats a good question. I drive my amp with a magnum S9 and when I put a galaxt 95t in line I saw 300 watts more pep but the rms power would swing back. It would not get out half as good as it did with the magnum because it would swing backwards with modulation. The galaxy had more than twice the pep of the S9, but the the rms backswing was killing me. I have not used a connex 4600 but it could have the same issue. Have you considered a different radio (cobra 29 or something similar) with a driver. A 50 watt magnum wouldn't be enough for that amp. I haven't tried the new 80 watt magnums so I can't recommend one to you. If you don't already have the TS 1600, have you looked at any custon amps (davemade, xforce, fatboy,etc...)? They are priced very competitively when compared to a commercial amps of the same size. |

Moonraker, that backward swing happened to a friend of mine. I took him a heavier guage wire to use with his system. And he backed DK down and things returned to normal. Why? I can't really explain why. Still learning about amp problems. |

I set the 95t at a 10 watt dk, that is no where near too high for that radio. I tested the radio with the power all the way up, all the way down and everywhere in between and it would still swing backwards (rms). The wire was plenty big enough. I have never used a connex 4600 and don't know how alike or different from a 95t it is, but it would be worth looking into before buying one. I do agree that proper wire size and a properly tuned radio is critical. But if the radio is a piece of junk to begin with... |
