Just a quick ?, what type of coax is in the $5 grab box, it's a brown color, I am just curious because I have a piece of it and if it's a decent coax may make a jumper out of it. Thanks in advance. James CEF#590 CVC#49 Va Beach |

Navyrebel782003, I called Customer Service for you and they have no idea. Personally I would NOT recommend using it as a Jumper without any marking's on it telling you what type it is. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Thanks for the info, it does have the ampheno??? connector on one end and it's kind of a see through brownish/redish color outer jacket, if that helps but if I can't figure this out then I will take the end off and through it away, or strip it for the shielding...lol. if it's rg8x-size, fairly stiff, & you can see the shield through the covering, & it appears extremely tight, it could be a piece of a fairly good rg8x! what i describe i've used with excellent results in an RFI-prone mobile with a small amp & saw much improvement. it had no markings on it, but came with the triple mag mount i bought. have since turned it into 3 jumpers. |

Not real sure what size rg8x is but it is bigger than what comes on a wilson 1000 mag mount, and yes you can see the shielding through the outer jacket, I may try it and see what happens, may just use it for the swr meter, right now all I have is rs junk on it, so I figure since it's soldered it cant be any worse than what I have now...LOL. thanks for the info though Patzerozero. rg8x IS thicker then the skinny stuff(rg58) on the wilson, but thinner then rg8/213 that you'd normally use on a base. probably what i had.... |
