I just found out today not only I come over my TV etc, but I come over the next door neighbors TV, radio etc. I have the TVI filter and it doesn't help one bit. Would grounding my equipment and antenna get rid of this problem? The neighbor has satellite dish and I still come over his TV. Doesn't matter how much power I use or don't use. Any suggestions??? |

Grounding never hurts however where is your antenna?
As for his dish sounds like a overload problem and moving your antenna might help. |

First step would be to isolate were the RF is actually getting in.
Disconnect everything from the TV - still getting in? Then the problem is with the TV and the TV may need a High Pass Filter on the coax and a power line filter.
If you do not get in then connect just the satellite receiver and leave the dish disconnected. If you now get in then try the filters on the input to the Satellite receiver and power line.
If you did not get and the reconnect the dish and now you get in, then as Bruce said you may need to try moving antennas.
I am not sure about here, but in Australia some TV had a 27MHz IF and there was basically nothing you could do to keep CB out of them. |

It would be very hard for me to move my antennas. I have a maco shooting star ontop of my tower which is cemented in between our houses.
I have a stereo that picks my CB up when it is just plugged in. Doesn't even have to be on. Seems like the RF is getting into the circuits. |

And how close is it to your neighbors
house/satellite??? How high is your cb antenna? |

My maco shooting star is about 40 feet up. The bottom elements come down to about 30 feet. We have cable TV. I was talking to one of the locals and he said I should cut my coax so it's just long enough to reach my radios. I've got about 15 or so extra feet of it balled up on the floor. Maybe some of my things inline like my coax switches don't help either. |

A Beam antenna Wally. Does this interference happen to you and your neighbor while beam
is only in certain directions??? Or no matter where you have beam pointed? Your antenna and tower should be grounded good for lightning protection anyhow.
You need to take some time and pinpoint what the problem is. Do exactly what Tech 237 mentions above in his post. Start with your TV or your neighbors.
For the satellite system: check for poor grounding on the dish, any loose connections on
the system (such as F connectors etc.), use of low quality coax cable, poor shielded patch cords between the satellite receiver and TV/VCR receiver. Keep patch cords as short as possible.

Oh I forgot to mention. The neighbor on the side the tower is on, his house is only 10 feet away. |

more details please.
like how high is the tower, and how far is the actual antenna from the neighbors dish?
and how far apart are the houses?
is your station on the second floor?
anything you can think of even if it doesnt seem important.
here's one idea:
do you have a coax balun coil at or near the feedpoint of that antenna?
you should, if im thinkiing correctly, you are feeding a balanced load with an unbalanced line, and that, if true, will cause common mode currents to run along the shield of your coax, right back down to the station.
depending on where the coax is run in relation to your neighbors house, it could be radiating RF right at their walls.
second is grounding.
will you describe how the tower is grounded?
do you have a station ground rod?
details please!
one last BIG culprit is running a radio with the modulation limiter clipped or turned up to distortion. if this is happening, even barefoot, you are going to create harmonics and i havent seen a low pass filter yet that can clean up a dirty radio.
im not saying this is the case here, but i used to come through a neighbors clock. not clock radio; clock.
and it was because i had my 142GTL so peaked out that i was probably coming through TV's a block away!
anyway, what kind of amp do you run if any?
low pass filter before and after amp?
that could be a good idea.

are yor radios clean limiters in tact?
r u running a power mic try tuning it down almost all the way
gounding would be a good place 2 start
ya said your on a beam try moving it away from his house so your back door is at him ..may help |

Ok, I cut a good 15+ feet off my coax to shorten it up. Seems to have helped alot. Grounded everything too. Now the only time the neighbor yelled out the window at me was when I was pointed his way with my KLV 400 on. I pointed away and turned it down and never heard anything from him then. |
