When you say as transmitting as good on am as the galaxy 99v, do you mean as loud? Usually that's what everyone talks about. Out of the box, no they aren't. But like all radios you can do modifications to it to make it louder. I was going to post some of the modifications, but you can find them on the web pretty easily. I have two of them and don't think the mods are worth the time. they sound plenty loud now. But mainly they sound clear. I would rather sound clearer than louder. You could be ten times as loud, but what would it matter if you didn't sound clear. The main place that you really see the difference in clarity is far away. If you are just looking to get out farther, get a amp. With not trying to overdrive your radio for a little more modulation you won't bleed over others as badly too. Mainly though, I consider it a top of the line ssb unit, but it talks really well on am too. As far as power microphones go, I perosanlly like the astatic 575-m6. It drives my radio harder and sounds clearer than my other microphones. Plus it has the tone and volume controls on the side. When I got the microphone, I though I'd never use them, but they are very handy, especially when you start bleeding over your car stereo. |
