I know this is a little off topic but here goes. I recently bought a Kenwood TK3101 GMRS handheld. I got my license and everything. The only thing is that I would like to extend the range of it. Repeaters are allowed on GMRS and I was wondering if anyone knew of a repeater I could use in NY. I know it's a long shot, but I don't know what else to do. I hear two repeaters in my area. One is a REACT repeater, the other seems privately owned. But the private one seems to have a lot of off-duty police officers on it. I plan to write the repeater owner for permission to use the repeater, but I don't think that will happen. I'm thinking the repeater is run by some police officer and is only open to people from the department or his friends. GMRS is pretty nice, nice and clear, no garbage like on 11 meters. Very good for communication with personal friends. I just wish I had the support of a repeater so I can get some range out of my handheld. I may even buy a mobile GMRS if I could get on a repeater. 814 |
