Try checking with other local CBers in your area and see who they may recommend for repairs or go to channel 19 and ask the truckers who they use around your area for radio repairs.

there is no one close,thats the problem. if i have to drive a long way then so be it.

A local ham might be the WORST thing you can do!
I have met about 1 out of 100 hams that know what they are doing. The other 99 say they do, but really don't.
Best bet- contact the factory and ask if they will install the channel guard. If they say 'No', then don't do it at all. If something should ever go wrong in your radio and the factory tech sees the after market add-on, they may just tell you forget it completely and send your radio back to you broken. If THEY do the install, you will still get support from them in the future. |

You mean that license I got years ago doesn't automagically make me a technician? C'mon, I memorized nearly 100 questions to pass that test. Surely I know what I'm doing.
I seriously doubt that you'll find any manufacturer who'll install an aftermarket widget in their radio and cover it with a warranty. If you do, let us all know, but I won't be holding my breath.
Channel Guard Filters aren't hard to install. If someone can solder even a little AND follow simple instructions, they can install a Channel Guard Filter. |
