It's not my favorite Turner. The key makes noise that can be heard over the radio both when keying and unkeying, and if you don't hold your hand still it'll make noise while you're keying it. It's a compression mic so it's good and loud and it sounds okay on the air.

I much prefer the body style that the +3 and Super Sidekick have.

808: Anybody else:

How about opinions of the Turner +3 on a Magnum 257?

All i can say is the Turner + 3 is a
very good mic, but, how it sounds on
a Magnum 257, i don't know.
The original question: I also never cared
for the Turner Expander 500 desk mic.

Just my opinion, but I think the +3 was the best desk mike Turner made, although the super sidekick sounds good on some radios.

The +3 is nice. It has compression :-) The super sidekick is nice too, ive had both.

Also, the old EXP. 500's were awesome, the new knockoffs are a sorry excuse comparably.

I remember when the Expander 500 first came out. never heard anybody that sounded good on one of them. Turner +3 and the superSidekick both sound good. so does the Echomax

Never cared for the echoe mics. Never owned or used an Expnder 500. Ive got a Turner CS-1 that I've used on my Lincoln that sounds good, compareable to the Turner SSK.The CS-1 is one of the best mics I've ever owned.

Dont care for the echo much myself. BUT if you ever heard one of the echomax mikes with the echo off they seem to have pretty good clear audio :-) plus the EOT rodger beep is ok

Some people swear by the ECHO -when set to minimal. You can over do it real easy.

I like adding affects, but just minimal. Putting it in just far enough to make the audio sound "wet" is what you want.

Yea, Lon turned me onto the DM-452 that Copper's sell, Cheap, but the absoloute minimal echo makes it sound real clear. Some people swear by them.

I like how you put it Duck246. Just enough to sound wet. I agree with just enough minimal echo kind like a studio P.A. sound.

Turner +3 are a very good mic.
And the compression is awesome,
when alittle extra is needed, but,
i still like just alittle touch,
just alittle of echo....LOL
