I own a galaxy dx98vhp radio that I just love, but I was wanting to do a recieve diode mod. Wanted to get some imput on what everyone thinks. The radio works fantastic, running it with a 102" whip mounted center of the front of the truck bed. Custom mount, grounded to the frame, with excellent swr. |

I've always thought my export radios had a good receiver but have never used a 98vhp. I can say the diode/transistor upgrade on my uniden 78 was well worth it. A nice quiet receive for about $4 in parts |

Well said, moonraker, the radio performs great. Excellent tx, good rx, just wondering if I should mess with a good thing to make it just a bit better, or is the enemy of good.......ect. |

I would only try it if you are having trouble receiving distant stations. My uniden just has a noisy receiver compared to my exports. If you are doing the mod yourself and are good enough at soldering and desoldering without damaging the circuit board I say go for it. It cost less than 5 bucks and you can put it back to stock if you don't like the results. |

Thankfully I can do all the mods on my radios, to a point, simply because I don't have the equipment to do alignments, but the next question would be the location on the board for this radio. I know it has ranger guts, but I just need to be sure. Thanks once again for the input! |

I have no idea about the component locations for that chassis. If you aren't able to find the information look up the info for a radio that uses the same board. |

i have a galaxy saturn turo & a galaxy dx 2517 that i want to do the shootkey diode & the trans. for the recive can anyone tell me where i can buy these parts from for the both radios & the right ones to swap out of each radio oh the turbo is the one that has the 2950 board in |
