ihave a cd 44 rotor and no control box for it.is there a simple way of hooking up some wires to see if it work,(bench test it)? and can i cheat and use a 5 wire hygain control to run it? i also have a cd40, are any of the parts interchangable with the cd44?..aj |

AJ,most rotors have 48 volt motors .I have mixed and matched rotors and controls and never had any problems getting them to turn.the problem would arise in the indicator circuit.some have a pulse system some a feedback pot circuit. to use just the motor circuit you would have to know the pinout of the rotor and control in order to wire them up for testing.that could involve something as drastic as taking them apart.this weekend i will try to get time to draw you a simple schematic for the motor circuit so you can test them.check the bottom of the "cd40"closer and see if it is an AR40.if it is I beleve the hygain box will control it,you might have to change a couple resistors though to get the meter on the control box accurate. |

dindin maybe i was wrong on the "cd40", whatever it is, it IS controlled with the hygain control. i have used it since '95, but now it wont work. the CD44 came with it as a spare but i dont know if its any good. its already opened up on the bench, and when the weather gets better the other one will come down and get opened up too. so i guess the control box has a step down transformer in it?...aj |

well the rotor was down and fiddled with and is now back up and operational. i need another trip up the tower to get the beam pointing the way the dial says, but it turns 360 now. hope to finally use it on the sunday net. aj |
