When using a 40 amp power supply, can you hook up a radio and a small amp at the same time???say a 250 Palomar mobil amp????? thanks

Yes you can but very few people do so. The rule of thumb has always been to use separate power supplies for the linear and transmitter.

Just get yourself a smaller 10-12 amp supply for the radio and let the linear use the larger one. Doing so will let the 40 amp run cooler.
