I want a very good\great mobilecb radio with ssb but I dont want all of the extra knobs that dont mean anything that comes on a 10 meter switched over to 11 meters. I would also like a freq counter on it but aslong as i can add one later that will work also. Any pointers will help.

The Galaxy 959 is an all around good am/ssb radio.
And it has a built in freq counter. Can't beat it for the price. Check out the link below.....

If you want a brand new radio Texas Ranger TR-296.....they can be modded for better swing and an expander L kit can be added for 40 lows/40 highs/ and the regular 40. The price is very nice too, I bought mine from Copper.
The only bad thing is that the factory stock microphone is not very good. Look into this radio.

Go with the old tried and proven: Cobra 148 GTL
Cobra 148F GTL
Uniden Grant XL
Yes, we understand that these fine radios are no longer being made, but if a person searches hard enough, new ones in the factory boxes can still be found. These three radios are as good as it gets. I make no other Comment as to what the radio can do or be made to do, I don't like getting into World War III, like I did the last time I posted on these three fine Radios. I know what they are and just about everything they can do. Enough said from this proud owner of a Uniden Grant XL that does have an add on frequency counter that does read dead on frequency.

Just as Sinner suggested, I would go for the Grant also. In my opinion, it has the best receiver in the whole CB line of radios and can easily be converted for "extra" channels.

The new Cobra 148s' use bottom of the line wiring and are not the radio they use to be.

Jeff.
