Trucker's CHANNEL?

Heck, KB around here they think all 40 is Trucker's Channel's.

With the PILOT, TA, FREEDOM, Road Ranger, Truck Stop's & Blue Beacon Truck Wash within 4 miles of all of us here it can be FUN.

Oh did I mention around 100.000 Trucks a day going by less than 1/2 mile from us?

We are the intersecting point for I-55 / I-74 / Rt 51 South / Route 9 / Route 150 east & west and Bloomington is the start of I-39 North.

Heck you can go 1/4 mile from our house turn right on 51 South and not stop until you hit Graceland, in Memphis.

HONEST! Rt 51 runs right in front of Graceland.

It is NEVER QUIET HERE!

Lon

Yes Lon I remember Graceland and 51, I had 1 year shore duty in Memphis, Naval Air station Millington Tenn.
Oh by the way at the same time I dated Bobbie Presley, and she took me to Graceland to meet the King, he use to pretend to run out of gas in downtown Memphis and talk to people from his car, also the movie theather he use to rent late at night for him and his friends.

Hi Lon & Shirley, My goodness and I thought it was bad with my QTH less than half a mile west of interstate 35, at the 90 mile sticker in Oklahoma. Most of the day and night channels 1-40 are a mad house. The truckers have stand offs to see who can over power who, as they travel north and south between Oklahoma City and the Texas state line. I know for a fact that some of them are running these Sweet Sixteen Amps., You can hear them coming as they are coming north down off the Arbuckle Mountains, and coming south just as they are leaving Oklahoma City. I'm 30 miles south of the Oklahoma City line. Yankee

Truckers channel? What does this mean? I know it is just a saying. 808 you said around there THEY think all 40 are the truckers channel. How true that is, I mean I own a CB radio, and my buddy owns a CB radio, and as long as I stay with in the boundries of the CB RADIO GODS, then I can talk on ALL 40 channels it makes no difference there are no laws, as to what 40 channels I am allowed to talk on.
When ever I do talk on the radio which by the way is not very often, it is usually on channel 28. Because channel 19 is so noisy, so everbody that I know........knows to hollar at me on channel 28, which yes I know it gets noisy there to but still it has always been a channel that I liked so I stuck with it.
Just thought I would throw my nickels worth in.

Most People refer to 19 as the Trucker's Channel.

When we were driving, We NEVER left channel 19 as it was hard to know about Back-up's or Accident's or get BEAR Report's if we were on another channel jaw jacking.

When we were in the Truck I NEVER found any reason to go to any other channel other than 19.

And I love the trucker's who are talking on another channel and get Stuck in a 5 mile long back up and then switch to 19 and say HEY NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT! hehehe

The FCC say's we can use all 40 for AM or SSB and we do but NOT when we were driving OTR.

With the Exception on Channel *9* Which we DO Stay Clear of it.

Don't have a Nickel today so this is my 4 cent's worth.

For the most part channel 19 is the "Trucker channel" but on the West coast they use 17 and sometimes 15. Hey Yankee tell me more about those Sweet Sixteen amps.

Its funny with all the other illegal stuff going on (linears, skip talking, and extra channels) that the old CH 9 rule is still abided by! Ive NEVER once in all my years of talking on the radio have i ever heard a sole on CH-9 other than spanish skip!

Hey Lon,
Route nine goes right past my house. I would love to hear some of your stories sometime. I would bet that it is interesting living that close to commercial traffic lanes and at times a pain in the 6.

Cm3885,
I wish I could say the same for ch. 9 here in NYC. I hear loads of people on all the time, mostly spanish speaking, but definately local. I don't want to give the impression that they are the only ones though. There are definately plenty of others using it too.

Moderator558!

Now THAT is a GREAT idea! Truckers also licensed as ham on 20 Meters! Cool! And, besides, it keeps down that crowd that used to
haunt 14.303 with their obscene antics (if you know what I mean!)

Also,

Every day between 2pm and 8pm my time I always get this one Mexican chick that comes in on almost every channel but she's on 19. She's always screaming the same thing. Every 15 seconds she's running off at the mouth. Says the same exact thing. NEVER shuts up! I have people that tell me they hear her in Phoenix, Okie city, everywhere. You can't escape her. 10 channels up and down she bleeds. One trucker says he can understand her and it sounds like she's dispatching Taxis in mexico City. For 3 yrs I've listened to this loudmouthed menace! 7 days a week.

If he's the one that is always screaming on the radio that he'll throw in a shot of Tequilla or something like that and it has something to do with Mexico, Then "YES" I hear this loudmouth as well. I would truly love to tell him where he can "stick" his fire in the wire.

There's another guy down there that calls himself Pappa Smurf, I know drivers that have used him before.
