The center of the BNC connector on the radio looks to have been abused. It's kind of marred and bent "open". It looks as though they tried to jam a coat hanger in there. So now the antenna won't always make contact on the center pin.

Is there a way to fix this? I'm thinking aluminum foil will work but was hoping for a better way. Is this something that can be opened up and then replace the connector? Are there replacement connectors available that will fit?

Thanks,
Joe-Viking

Without looking at the TH-75a in my hands I would say the BNC should just be a standard chassie mount style, probaly bolted on the handhelds chassie with a lock nut. It should be as easy as opening the case and unsoldering the center pin/wire and replaceing the jack. If not or you want to avoid opening the radio you can try to use a small screwdriver to reshape the center connector of your bnc.
Good Luck and 73' Steve

Good advice from Nobody077. Another thing you may try is a straight-pin if you don't have a small enough screwdriver.

Or, for around $2.59, you can find a replacement at your local (shudder) Radio Shack.
