I have the 95T with the wilson 2000 on a Ford ranger with cap. I was having problems with high swr, loud squels when I keyed up. I used three kinds of mic's Road king, and two stock galaxy mic's. I have the wilson mounted on the ladder rack, also tried a cheap radio shack magnet mount and got the swr down to around 1.5 but after 15 min of use it went over 3.... I grounded the wilson with a 18g wire through the rear window onto the speaker mounting screw, but I didnt ground the 95T. I thought the negative would be enough. Anyway, I sent the radio to Galaxy to fix the Mod lamp stop working, the 10k button was reversed, and I just think it was bad to start with... Any Ideas what went wrong or what should I do when I get the radio back? Also, where should I mont the wilson or what other ant. should I used.... Thanks for the help |

Cool_pr Just a few questions. 1- Is the cap fiberglass or metal? If it's glass, you have absolutely no ground plane for the antenna. 2- If the cap is metal, how is it grounded? Some pickup boxes are not grounded to the frame. And if yours isn't, neither is the latter rack or antenna. 3-How is the latter rack mounted to the cap? Are rubber gromets being used anywhere? This sounds like a lack of ground to me. In order for this antenna to work correctly, it has to have metal under it. If your cap is made of metal and is grounded to the box and the box grounded to the frame, then this scenario should work. It won't work very well if everything is mounted to a fiberglass shell.
