Low vs. High impedence is relative to the component your speaking of, or comparing to... For instance, Electret and coil wound (magnetic) microphones are generally considered low inpedence mic's due to the nature of how they are designed...most being below 2000 ohms while older crystal microphones like the head of a D104 mic is considered high impedence because they are usually 20,000 ohms or more. Regarding antennas...a low or high impedence antenna is usually spoken of relative to the transmitter or receiver's impedence, ie...a 10 ohm antenna would be a low impedence antenna as compared to a 50 ohm antenna port on a CB...etc. Hope this helps |
