Does anyone use the GPK on the Solarcon Antron 99? What does it do? Is there a difference with it? |

the gpk adds db gain to the A99 like a beam type antenna it reflects the wave up and out insted of to earth and out if the sun hits sand on the beach it dosent reflect up if it hits water it reflects up the same thing happens with your antenna with a gpk you add water under it so it reflects or forces the output of the radio up and amplifies your radios watts db gain with a gpk on a stock radio is like peaking the radio you go from 5 watts to 15 watts in short form it adds to your rigs rf output and helps you in dx land ground plane is a good choice |

Hummmmm Timberwolf you should become a used GPK salesman ..... Kidding .....I don't know where you got your info but its a intresting view even if i cant agree with it. Ok now for the real world The GPK's ive seen are not effective. Unlike my hustler 4 band vertical whick requires a groundplane most CB vertical antennas are 1/2 wave or 5/8 wave end fed. A short GPK anything under 1/4 wave would have little effect on these. If you go look at ground systems for CB type verticals in the ARRL books it takes a lot more than a GPK to get the effect that it is supose to give you. A well designed ground plane can lower your take off angle and add gain but this GPK is just too small. Ground planes can be very effective my hustler is a sad antenna with out one it requires to work well 4 1/4 wave grounds per band 16 total. Go look things up in good antenna books then build your own would be the way i would go.......My opinion. |

like ive said in other posts, a dipole has had better results on this end compared to an antron at the same height. i personally wouldnt waste my money on an a-99 because i know many people who fell into the antron fad and have now upgraded so used antrons are a dime a dozen around here. ive got a few for free. |

Well, I have the Antron 99 and I also have the GPK kit. I installed it and saw 0% performance difference in the antenna. after 6 months I finally went up there and took it off. I saw no reason to keep it on there when it did nothing for me on SSB or am. |

Hey Cuddle Bear why would you want to go up and take it off if it did nothing? Why is it bothering you? You just wasted your time for nothing if it was doing nothing.. FOX |

Hey bruce wonder if I could get more gain out of my antron using the huster plate and 120 wires. You have seen the Plate right? |

one of those gpk's would work well with a 9' radiator |

Adding gpk to Antron is changing angle of radiation, and in my case changed bandwidth of the antenna to wider. |

Crafter YES but you must run gold wires for low loss and tune them for best audio gain! |

You guys sound like the audiophiles. These guys claim they can hear the difference between RCA and Westinghouse tubes. They also say they can hear the difference between 1 ga. copper speaker wire and 1 ga. silver plated, oxygen siphoned speaker wires. Unreal...

Tech833, The only change I hear, between 1ga and silver plate oxy free wire, is the lack of it going back into my pocket.. |
