Cant figure this one out. My new 2995 and my new 2970 DX sound like C**P on receive on FM but the transmit side sounds great! I can recive another FM mode station but they sound distorted and i am unable to copy them. This happens both on my 2995 and my 2970 DX!!!! I hooked up my AR 3500 and my 2995 and did a test on dummy loads. The 3500 received the 2995 great clear as a bell. then i trasnmitted on the 3500 and recived it in my 2995 and the 3500 sounded like trash! The other night i was talking on my 2970 DX and the guys all said i sounded great but i recived them and they both sounded like trash just like my 2995 receives the 3500 all garbly and distorted and stuff!! ARRGH! has anyone else had the same problems that i am having? 2 radios with the same problem sounds like its the RCI radios problem... |

I never liked my 2950 or 2950dx on fm and if you have a channel guard in a Ranger it will distort fm one reason i no longer have a ranger . Its a good SSB radio no doubt. |

Did you try adjusting the clarifier? My Galaxy sometimes needs the clarifier adjusted to get clear audio on FM. |

I dids try that it helped some but not that much.... Maybe theres a pot inside that needs adjsuting? I might take it to a lcoal shop and have the tech check it out. I cant send either radio back to were i got them because i opened the case on both radios. |

None of my 2950DX's have worked well on FM The best FM radios of this type are the Lincoln/HR2510 & Delta Force. |

i like the FM in the mag 257 myself. the 257 is like the delta force without the echo, roger beep, talkback, and other seemingly useless shiny buttons and knobs that the greasy handed truckers and hicks go for. it'll really sound good when i purchase an alesis compressor/limiter to hook up inline. im shootin for broadcast quality audio in all modes by the next highspot in the DX cycle in a couple of years. thats my new years resolution folks |

Well I will tell you that my 2995DX is an FM monster!! I even run an FM net Thursday nights. I get nothing but good reports!! Be sure that you dont run any power , amp wise, or you will distort. Now for rx you have to use your shift key to zero in on the other stations, thats what I have to do anyway. |

My ranger doesnt distort transmit wise one bit just receive wise... Sounds bad until i move the clairifier then the received stations sound ok but not all that clear.. My 2995 is the same way.... |
