It is a 10 meter amp. Do you mean modified to run on the cb bands (11 meter)? That amp can run on both depending on it's configuration.

On coppers web site the klv500/300 say "Frequency HF MHZ" and most of the others say "Frequency 25-30 MHZ"
What does HF mean?

Thanks and sorry for the Ignorance:).

The designation HF means High Frequency. The other general designations being VHF Very High and UHF Ultra High. ll meters is within the HF band.

Magnum410,

Ironmask is exactly right. The HF frequency is from 3-30 MHZ

The CB bands (11 meter) are 26.965-27.405 MHZ.
The ham 10 meter band is 28.000-29.700 MHZ. As you can see, both fall into the HF spectrum.

Basically the 500 can operate on both of these. Sometimes they need to be modified a bit because it's illegal to operate an amplifier on the 11 meter band. The manufactures do this to keep them out of trouble as they sell them as 10 meter amps. Do you already have one? Depending on where you got/are getting it from, it may already be done.

And by the way, no worries on being ignorant. That's what these forums are all about to help everyone from beginners to those more advanced. I am no expert and I have posted some really "dumb" questions on here but if you don't ask, you don't learn. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a "dumb" question and we all help when we can.

So this is a 2 meter amp and not a 10/11 meter amp?

The KLV-500 is a 10-11 meter amp. You mis read the MHz range. HF spans from 3 to 30 MHz. 11 meters or CB runs from 26.965 to 27.405 thus falling within the HF area.

Thanks again

Magnum,

if you buy from Coppers, just ask them to ensure it is set up for 11 meters (1-40). It will be ready when you receive it. You will be very happy with the KLV line of amps. Very clean on AM and sideband.

Good choice.

Ok cool, thanks. I also like the size of these amps, they fit good under the dash.
