I would like to add the 5 tone beep in place of the single tone. I understand and know how to wire it into a radio that does not have one, but would like to use the existing button on the vr 9000. |

Dear Possum,
Sounds pretty simple to me. You should be able to just disconnect the wires that are soldered to the switch currently, and resolder the new Beep to the switch. Defeating the old Beep. At least that is how I would do it. Now I'm not sure if that switch controls anything else in the circuit so if it does, you may have to trace which wires go to the Beep etc. Then cut them. But if that's the only thing the switch does, then you should be ok. (NOTE: Do not cut the wires until you know for sure this will work.) This way if it doesn't, you can resolder them back. trust me no you dont,the 5 tone will always come back through your speaker (loud) every time it goes off and there is nothing you can do to make it stop.i have a vr-9000 and i just changed one cap and my factory beep is longer.heck i have a new 5 tone and it is on the shelf,cant give it away.if you want to know how to do this mod e-mail me. |

Do you know how to change the TONE of the VR-9000 roger beep? I am looking for a very specific tone, 4800Hz , and for a specific length, 150ms.
You wouldnt happen to be able to point me in the right direction would ya?

yeah,go to the galaxy website,88 is the same conversion.i did it to my last one and it sounded good.here change c134 to a 10uf 16volt for longer time,for hihger tone change r181 to a 150k ohms.clairifier mod,remove r141 and d38 and solder a bridge j106 pin 54 to 8 volts.disable talk back on the back of the echo swith there is a black and red wire remove the red. |

Hmm.. I just had an interesting idea..Lemme know what ya think... Using variable resistor/capacitors (i am NOT an electronics guru - I dunno if these even exist!! Just a thought!) in lieu of the ones that are hard wired into the circuit - would allow you to change the tone and length "on the fly" so to speak...
Possible???

i just did it again to another vr-9000 and it worked great,its eazy.i am sure it would work but why buger up a good radio.it is your choice. |
