I got my vr9000 and it only took 2 days to get it. And it only took me 5 min to remove the cover and get rid of that "Spider". I left every-thing else alone. Put cover back on and hooked it up in my Bronco. I turned it on and checked out the funtions they all work. So it was time for the real test I keyed up and ask for a radio check. All good news, was told it sounded real clean and had a little swing. (GREAT) so I hooked up the Mod351p. I ask a friend to give me a radio check with box off and he said it was great. Then turned box on and ask how it sounded. His reply was " it sounds like the audio is being held back. (he has been into cb for 30 some years so I trust him). f.y.i. this radio check was done at night 5 miles away. Any thoughts or help welcome. Thanks one and all. Tang164, If you are running that amp with the radio right out of the box, the deadkey may or may not be right for it. Do you have a watt meter to check what you are feeding the amp with? Steve 181 |

Tang164, 1-7 Watts AM and 2-14 on SSB. Proabably 3-4 watts would be best for your AM deadkey and let your swing carry you the rest of the way. Steve 181 |

Tech181, Thanks for the info.It seems that it is working best with a 2 watt deadkey on AM with a swing to 15 Watts. ssb is set to 18 Watts and seems to be fine there. Modulation is set at 110% and sounds loud as heck. I also set the mod351/p to #2 and it has a lot of swing and sounds MUCH better. We are going to do the same 5 mile radio check after it gets dark and cools down a bit. I must sat that the Mod351/p gets real warm but seems to be ok and works well. THANKS again for the help. Tang164@Yahoo.com I hope I get my user account setup soon. Take care & 73"s 164 around south Jersey |
