it is no better than the imax... ask jogunn for range measured gain done under NBS standards... youll get a catalog ...if your lucky....Jogunn is well known for gain figuers that are past the nearly impossible.... simple fact a 20 foot cb ant will have about 2 DBI gain no matter who makes it. |

Hehe burce. Its like syaing your going to get 80 watts out of a cobra 29. Its not what you do to the radio, its the transistor that says how much its going to put out. |

EVERYONE the ONLY way to get gain is to compress the raditaion pattern of the antenna NO antenna unless it is baddly designed ( and constructed) will be much diffrent than another antenna of simular size a 1/2 or 5/8 wave antenna will give very simular gains no matter what it cost. Jogunn NEVER has range tested any of there antennas if they did they would have printed the results EVERYWHERE. You look at cushcraft they still from time to time print the pattern with there adverisment... yes they CAN prove gain. The rule is simple a 2 elm beam will give you about 5 DBI 3 elm about 8 DBI and a 6 ELM beam 11 DBI or about 9 DBD Show me ANY documented under NBS testing standards ANY major change over these numbers then look at a Jogunn catalog they ADD vert and HORZ gain TOGETHER... sad. If you do not beleve me feel free to do so but since the NBS report was published 20 years ago in YAGI arrays NO ONE has disproved it. |

Thanks a whole lot guys for the input. I already have "PISTOL" up, but I'm not completely satisfied with it.I use it mostly on 11 meters. I'm thinking about taking down and putting up Maco V-58 or 5000. I just keep hearing how good these antennas work. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

rightwing you just made the biggest understatement i have never questioned jogunns construction only the fact they justfy the price by outright lies about proformance.... now im still waiting for that audio gain formular. |

Ha, I think they have good antennas but I think their gain claims are outragious and their prices are a little expensive. |

Hey what you talkin bout, any one who publishes gain in dbi is not being forthcoming and maco doesn't say one way or another, whats up with that????????If ant.manufacturers would take gain measurments and publish results there would less ambiguity. |

bigbob BINGO !!!!!!!!! THATS THE PROBLEM NO STANDARD DBI IS FALSE BY ALMOST 3DB BUT LOOK AT JOGUNN THEY ADD GAIN TOGETHER IE 6 DB VERT + 6 DB HOR = 12 DB WRONG EVEN IF YOU COULD DO THAT ALL YOU WOULD HAVE IS 9 DB..... GESEE bruce |

I just figured out who jogunns founder was ... P.T. Barnum because they beleve there one born every min. Im still waiting for jogunn to show me how you measure audio gain... and publish the range test results using NBS standards....the others have at some time ... cushcraft did, mosley did even hygain did..... well???? |

IF you are lucky, you may find a AS Super Scanner out there somewhere in working order, maybe even brand new like the one on Ebay a while back. Expect to pay dearly($200+) for one new in box, as they are no longer made, but talk about receive. As for transmit, they have only about 8-9 db gain in directional mode, but will beat the snot outta any omnidirectional and you don't have to goof around with rotors. I've talked around the world, literally, on one running only 100w. I miss my Super Scanners..yes I had two. Back in the day, Turner also made a Super Scanner clone with 4 elements instead of 3. |

Bruce.. its just another way a manufacturer pulls the wool over CBers to make $$$... its all about $$$.. Im still wondering about that "Audio gain" deal... Why dont they just call it "antenna modulation factor" or something of the like??? LOL. |

Super Scanner, Awesome antenna, I took one element and put it horizontal, and the other two are still vertical, then i put the antenna on a rotor up on my 80 foot tower and the results are unbelievable!! I run with my buddys Jo gunn super audio six element flat side antenna on a 60 foot tower, and this is with our barefoot radios!!! Unbelievable.......I love my superScanner!! and i got another one just in case somthing happens to my main Baby!! i also got a maco 3 elememnt which is pretty good to!! I love this stuff!! thanks guys |

I owned a S. Scanner antenna and it was great. It was a great idea. I'd like more information on the four element S. Scanner. I always wondered if four elements would work better? Mikefromms |

mike 4 elm super scanner would produce very little gain for what would be involved I built a 6 meter one for 50.4 AM it was great! And after i get through the next 200 projects im going to try one for 52.525 FM Its about 5 db of real gain in a small package |
