Bulldog, It depends what you are looking for in a radio. I am in the process of doing a review of the Magnum 257, so let me tell you about it. It depends what you want or are looking for in a radio. PROS Withe basic tune up it will do 27 watts on AM and 34 on SSB with a stock mic. It has 5 memory channels, and the radio remembers frequency AND mode. It doesn't drift on SSB. Freq range is 25.165 - 29.690 Variable power knob controls SSB and AM. It's smaller and easier to find a place to mount it. It looks cool. All the knobs light up. You can split freqs like the 2950. It will tune ANY frequency without a clarifier mod. Powered mic pin so you can use other amateur microphones. Channel UP/DOWN buttons on the mic. CONS Sometimes before it warms up the volume is extremely high when you turn it on and you can't lower it for a few seconds. I don't think the lightbulbs are of very good quality. The knobs, while okay, seem to have a lot of wiggle orplay in them. Has a frequency display (like the 2510) not a true counter No RB, or echo,or anything like that.
