in 1971 a 6lq6 tube was$5.80 and a 6jg6a was4.60, heck i was just born in 1971 my amp is the same age as me. |

Yes jyd, those tube prices are kinda out-of-date. You will be looking at prices often over 30 dollars for theese tubes now. I have a Scout 8 tube amplifier with 4 6JG6's driving 4 6LQ6's and if you run them on the LOW side the tubes last quite a long time. As time goes by they can only get higher as the supply is depleted. |

THATS RIGHT i remember on my drake I B........ like hell because 3 MATCHED tubes 6JB6s cost $9.95 how COULD THEY CHARGE THAT MUCH !!!
Ah the good old day's and my NEW AMC 1976 HORNET with AIR cost $ 3400 and 36 car payments of $120 a month a GOOD house here in Seminole fla was about 30,000 in a new divison. A 4 elm 6 meter hygain beam was 29.00 and 11 em cushcraft for 2 meters was 19.95 o dont forget the tr-44 light duty ham-m roter 69 bucks. amd the ham-m about 99 bucks now the BAD news i made at a REALY good job $3.50 per hour by 1977 it was $6 per hour we had heard stories of people making $20,000 per year.... but how could anyone spend THAT much. |

Heck I graduated in 71 and nobody in the real world makes tube tvs anymore,I think. |
