Got a nice clear day so I figured I'd install the 10/6/2/70 radio in the Saturn. I pulled the trim off the console, remove the small pocked near the shifter, and removed the trim surrounding the stereo. The plan was to mount the remot head in the pocket just below the stereo. however after checking, it proved there was no room to run the cable up to the head. I elected to use the poxket near the shsifter instead

Drilled holes, mounted the L -bracket (needed as the head's bracket was designed to mount on a vertical surface only) and bolted the mount to the bracket. Slotted the head into place adn put all the trim back.

!!! Now I discovered that I forgot that the mic on this radio plugged into the side of the head, and there was no space to plug it in. Also no option to plug it into the body of the radio.

A nice neat tidy install and I cannot use it.

Now comes the decison, do I drill a large-ish hole in the side of the console to plug the mic in, or remove the radio and go to the older Icom IC-208, which as least allows me to plug the mic into the body.

Either way, will add a phot of the install befoer In do anything to it.

Now I am looking for a wall mount RJ-12 and matching cable. The RJ-12 is similar to the RJ-45, but only has 6 pins and is a little smaller.
