Well, I just spoke with a friend that moved to NC. He is not allowed to put up a antenna on his property to radio. I told him before he moved he would regret it. Why would anyone want to buy property that they have no say over and the neighbor's tell you what you can and can not do. He signed what right's he had away. Now he has less freedom. . NOT ME I NEVER DO IT. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD!!!!!!!!!!! |

Some of us cannot afford to buy homes and have to use rented ones. In my case I have had a Slinky Dipole hidden under the capping strip of the patio railing where it couldn't be seen - until the climbed the building to clean the roof last week. Got a "remove or else" note. At least it lived until after the 10M Contest Back to the drawing board. Thinking of a telescoping pole around 20ft long. Slide the Slinky over it and end feed using a 9:1 balun then into an ATU. Use the other half of the slinky dipole (and a couple of other slinkies) as ground radials. Collapse and take it inside when not using it, and put it out on the patio when I want to operate. Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

I am going to tell him , if they will let him , to install a pvc or fiber glass flag pole and put a fiber glass antenna or a dipole antenna inside of it and bury the coax. I have seen of some HOA that don't allow even a flag pole or Our flag fly from a pole or the house. |

I can afford to live in a gated community with a HOA however, I choose to be as free as possible. I own my brick house with several acre's of land. my neighbor has a $500 thousand home. Like I said I will never sign my right's over to HOA. I know lot people reading this live in such housing area's as this. I mean no offense. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD !! |

I know people in England that had a big attic and a steep roof that installed a beam. I know, I spoke with them. I have signed every petition even those as far away in California to help stop the HOA from stopping the home owner erecting a antenna. I know FEDERAL LAW SUPPERCEDES all law both state and local and the LICENSED HAM OPERATOR Is used for EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION"S in time of DISASTER and EMERGENCY Now I don't know if what I been told is true but I was told there is a court ruling on this that the HOA has to ALLOW a LICENSE HAM OPERATOR at least ONE ANTENNA for such REASON TECH 833 Can tell you more on this. The reason I involve myself in every petition against any HOA is I don't believe in the HOA taking people's freedom. Of course it is also the fault of the person signing these document's when they buy the home also. I don't mean to offend anyone that has done so but I am strongly against the HOA Even though i will never sign or buy into such an agreement. My family came from communist Germany. My family left because of freedom. The HOA is the beginning of taking away your freedom LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD |

Are there 18" or slimline SAT dishes on roofs? If so, I'd look to see in the HOA covenants if antennas are broadly forbidden, if CB/HAM antennas are specifically forbidden, or if SAT antennas are specifically allowed. Might give some leverage. |
