Hello. Has anyone replaced the 2SC2078 in their Cobra 25LTD Classic with an FQP13N10 MOSFET? If so, would you please post a link (or type out instructions) on how to do the mod.? I heard someone on the radio say they did this mod., but his signal faded and could not ask him. I am thinking the FQP13N10 (made by Fairchild) is similar to the ERF-2030, but don't have a clue as to whether or not the mod. is exactly the same or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It works!
Don't trust high watt readings on peak, if you get 50-70 watt peaks, it will be distortion. Go for reasonable readings of 25-35w and don't do the swing mod, it looks real bad on a scope. The mod is like the 2030 or 520 mod and like them you need to figure out the correct biasing, it's new and is being guarded because most CBers want to "watch her swing". I ask you though, what good is swing if the audio isn't clean? I've done the mod and once you get it right and make sure the mosfet is cool, it's a good mod.
