I no thay stoped making this radio I don't no why. Are thay any good? I was thinking of one one for SSB,mabe a used one.And befor you say it I no I can get a used HF rig for 2 or $300.00 I just don't have it at this time.I,m on a fixed income that's way I'm making my own antenna. As always thanks for your time. |

I use to have radio's similar to this and the only problem is that on SSB they like to drift a little on frequency as the temp changes with the radio. Other than that a good radio. Tell you what you might want to do is to go to a ham fest. There you can find some good deal's and perhaps you might even find a better radio that will come within your limits. Also you might try Ebay. But, buyer beware. Always check out the person reputation before you buy. |

I think that I would look for a used Ranger RCI-2950 for SSB. They have almost no drift. And I see them listed very cheap. Izzy CEF#502

Way to go Milkman, I have all the RCI DX SERIES radio's and they can hardly be beat. By the way, that include the RCI 2970N2 I know of a few more radio's that will equal the RCI DX RADIO'S but few have I ever seen done any better. |
