Well as of 11/9/13 I have been on this forum, for 12 years. Longer then my marriage lasted. Not sure if that is good or not, but it is what it is. I get on as often as I can, but to be honest I have a full plate right now. Loads of personal stuff to deal with, as I am sure you all do as well. But I am still here, and I do still approve posts and read the posts. I could never really leave, Lon would have been hurt if he knew I had. Plus I love this place way to much, so here is to another 12 more years!

I'm going on my 16th year here. First signed on with the Copper "registry" before the forum existed. I assume that counts. Became a volunteer Copper 'Tech' in 2002.

I must go back about 30 years with Copper if you count purchasing. I believe I first started getting the magazine in the early 1980's. I had some of the old ones until my shop was destroyed by the storm a few years ago. Be interesting to know when they did start the magazine/catalog. I know it was the first place I saw the Antron 99 and the early Ranger 3300 and 3500 radios. Back in the '70's some of the Radio dealers would somehow get your address from your CB call sign, it would be on the address label of their catalogs. Speaking of the CB license, my wife was cleaning out some old files yesterday and found a letter from the FCC. It was from the late 1970's. I had applied for a renewal of my 5 year license, the cost was 20 bucks. From the time I had sent the fee and renewal they had dropped the charge for the license and they returned my check with the new license. |

I talked to Lon & Shirley on the CEF nets then
got off the forum for awhile then when I
briefly returned I found out both Lon & Shirley passed away which kind of blew me away...

when I joined Copper there was just a few here. the techs were 181 and 307 , do not remember any others at the time. too long ago other than 833 coming on board a little while after I joined. |

I was listening on 36USB yesterday but did not get to listen in on the Cef Net ham freq.
But will try next Sunday just to see if I hear you...
I could not post on Coppers as my hard drive mal- funtioned and puter was in the shop...

WOW! I think it's been about the same 12 years for me! Lots of good times here over the years. Lots of folks have passed on too. Not much activity here anymore, but still good to see some folks active. I still try to stop in and say hi every now and again. Congrats to Moderator 120!!
