Question. I have this Microphone that was wired professionally by copper electronics To my RCI 2985 DX Radio. Works Great. The only problem i am seeing is that when im not pressing the PTT button the on air light still flickers and the VU meter is actively moving to the pick up of sound which i don't think is correct. Any information by some of our techs would be great. Thanks to all my Radio Brothers and Happy Labor Day. San Francisco LightFoot with the Golden Wave........ |

Could it be the receive audio getting back into the mic causing the meter to move? The mic doesn;t "turn on" when you press PTT and "turn off" when you release it. Unlike the typical hand-held battery operated mics, when on, the mic is on all the time. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Hi Tech833 thank you for responding to my need. The Meter will still move if the radio is off and the mic is disconnected from the radio. Somehow it still is picking up my voice through the mic and I'm not even pressing the ptt switch. And the light flickers regardless, Hahaha is that weird. Any advise would be appreciated. I'm actually a little savvy with my iron and some electronics. Best regards to you again............ |

The JCD-201M stays on even when not keyed. If you disconnect the mic from your radio with no batteries in it, the mic will shut down. If you have batteries in it, the mic will stay active for several minutes after the last time you pressed the PTT or LOCK button. If the mic is still on after, say, 15 minutes of complete inactivity (have not touched it or turned radio on), then it may be defective or wired incorrectly. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998
