bar would still be good

Do not rely on the in-radio SWR meter, they are general not that accurate - at least all the ones I've tested, and that includes my IC-706, which reads lower than testng the same antenna with an Antenna Analyser.

Tech237, I agree,they serve there purpose,but
a good antenna analyzer is the way to go...I guess
for some reason I've always wondered how your suppose to read bars LOL oh well never hurts to ask.

i also agree with tech 237. but you can use them
bars as a refference but nothing more. at the
VERY least id use a cheap 20.00 swr meter before
id trust those bars.

I just picked up a R/S micronta power/mod/swr meter
off eBay for $25.00 shipped...works great!...OK 454

im usually on 38lsb thats our local channel
here. my washington is stock and only seeing
around 10-12 watts so maybe if the dx gods are nice you might hear me

Hey dale I heard a 454 on 28(AM) just a few ago talking to a local here...about 2:45 my time PST...
skip was pretty good today....I just sold a Washington a while back, great SSB radios, and very good receive, I ran a turner + 3 with it, it sounded good....hope to make a contact with you,until then 73's your way.....
