Hi, I have had this radio for about 2 years and a few months ago one of the channel leds went partly out and then the meter light went out this past week ..So i got the parts and replaced them..no big deal..Now i have no modulation.I have a 4 watt dk & recieves fine on all 40. rx/tx lghts work as should...Tried 3 different mics as well as hooking the cobra mic to my base station and it works fine. It has 2 mods done prior to me owning it. Jumper across d8 & d11 is unsoldered and lifted. And an echo was added in the delta tune's place. Other than No Modulation I have no talkback/No echo and no P.A. Things I've checked are tr17, tr18, all possible cold solder joints and possible loose wire connections. These were all working when I pulled the rig from my truck. Any And all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks. PS..The new leds work great. |

Thanks for the fast response Jon666. Do you or anyone here have the voltage spects or another tried and true test proceedure for this chip. I would have to order one & would like to be somewhat sure its bad.It has the YD1022 audio amp.All I have is the schem for this radio. And am unable to find the info for this chip. Thanks Again. |

I would look for a broken wire, pinched wire, or a connector not properly seated. When I have to dig in to a radio sometimes by accident I'll break a wire or unseat one of those printed flex cables. The wires will break because I'll flip a circuit board back and forth trying get a location on a solder joint and the component I'm wanting to replace. Some of my units have no schematics or the component location prints. There is no reason that your radio should quit modulating because of the repairs you made. |

Make sure you don't have a short, something bridged with solder. Pressman/KC4ZWM

Guy's I've put some serious close up specs' "Meaning spectacles" 6x magnification on this situation. I'm beginning to think maybe i somehow toasted the audio amp. "like Jon666 suggested" not having the actual volt specs for this chip "yd1022" I really can't go by an older 29 ltd or the newer 29 ltd that has the 5 leg audio chip This was manufactured in 2007. "Ie 2nd generation" Also I am having trouble locating one of these audio amp chips. pretty sad for a rig thats only 4 and 1/2 years old. If anyone knows where I can get this audio amp, please let me know. I don't mind spending a couple of $$$'S to get this radio back into service. Once again "I Thank You All" for the input on this matter. |

Be sure you find the reason the audio chip failed (Pinched wire, solder short etc.) before you turn on the radio or you could end up replacing it again. |
