Why doesn't a manufacturer come out with a radio that has a remote mountable control head like the typical ham radio mobile radios? I just put a Yaesu FT-7800R in my truck and I love how easy it was to hide the main portion of the radio under the passengers seat and then mount the control head to a plate that sticks out under the dash. I currently have a Lincoln wedged between the center console and passenger seat and it's annoying to say the least. It seems like the CB/10m manufactures are stuck in a rut with radios which are all about the same size. I know they can shrink the components into much more user friendly packages. |

That would be nice. All the controls would probably be push button. As a matter of fact I believe Cobra has done something similar with the 75wx-st. A mountable faceplate would be much neater and I bet it would cost big bucks! Eventually it will happen someday. I think that the citizens band is going to make a huge comeback in the near future for mobile applications. KEEP IT REAL! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana

add high stability oscillator to the mix too. ham radios have long eliminated having to constantly screw with the clarifier to keep a ssb signal on frequency, why haven't cb's caught up to this? it would make ssb more viable for mobile use. The Midland 79-290 had detachable face. It apparently didn't sell very well, discontinued. In order for someone to make and continue to sell a detachable face radio, the consumers have to buy it. Otherwise, they have to assume that there is no demand for it. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

We now got them over here in UK but the price is just a little on the high side for just an AM/FM 40ch radio , good for someone who ain't got much space in the mobile and got a couple of hundred bucks ( £150 ) to spare . Tech858/Jim MM0TXO Wavin' a hand from Scotland
