I have heard that a Sure 526T desk mic is an awesome mic for both ssb and a.m. use. Will use it on an rci-2980wx. Is it "better" than, say a D-104 TUG-8? I am just searching for the cleanest and loud sound that I can get out with. Any opinions would really be appreciated! |

I just personally never liked the sound of the Shure mic's on AM / FM or in SSB use
My #1 personal choice for a Desk Mic would be the JCD-201M Desk Mic.

The JCD-201M looks like a nice mic, much like an Adonis or MC-60.
However it appears to have one drawback.
When you unplug the mic on some radios the receiver will keep working, while on others it will go dead.
This is due to some (most) rigs requiring a normally closed circuit to enable the receiver.
This mic does not appear to have this. Though it would work great on your rci-2980wx, it would not work on many other rigs.
Go ahead and get a Shure 526T. I guarantee you will like the results, and it will work on any rig  |

shure mics have a nice mellow tone especially
on ssb. never heard one on am/fm

D1g1man,
Since the JCD201M is unwired from the factory and you need to wire it to your individual radio I have not found any radio from any manufacturer that it has not worked on.
The big advantage is the JCD201M allows you to wire the mic for 2 completely different radios with different pin-outs for 2 dfferent radio's.
Example: I have my Output "A" on my JCD210M wired & connected to my Alinco DX 70 and Output "B" wired & connected to my Ranger 6 Pin radio. So by using the OUTPUT Select on the mic I can switch from 1 radio to another just by movinfg the Output switch from "A" TO "B" 
And with the set of 6 Mic Connectors from Copper I can use it on most all radio's.

i use a shure 526t on all my radios, at one time or another. ic735, ic751a, ic706mk2g, yaesu ft101e, yaesu ft757gx2, ar3500, S9, delta force, hr2510, grant xl, tr296....even on the ham bands never had any complaints. |
