hello i got me a rci 2970 its a nice looking radio an works great all but the receive seems to fade as the radio warms up. dont get me wrong it doesnt lose all receive but it will fall off some an it does it in like maybe a few mins of use. people that are close it dont really change on them that much but distence stations it does bad. i remenber something i once read that the agc overload on r49 in the radio could cause this has anyone ran into this problem before? if i remenber right the r49 is a 100k an it said to change it out an replace it with a 470k. any help on this would be great. i took the radio an had it check out an alignment done on it or so they told me an charged me for it an it still does the same thing it did before i took it , i dont think the tech had it hook up long enough to have the receive to drop out. like i said when cold it works great but as the radio warms up the receive drops on it. it didnt have a fan kit on it when i got it an i put 2 3 inch pc fans on it. it helps some i was just thinking about replacing q18 an d34 an d35 with what it came factory with an see if it helps. i really like the radio an its not been cut an butchered up like some these radios like the 2970's i have had. the guy i got it from thats the reason he got rid of it because the receive gets a little on the weak side once it warms up. it drops like 3 or 4 s units on like distance stations but the local people that i talk to which the closest one being like a couple miles he never changes on my receive or some in the next county away that being 25 30 miles maybe a 2s unit or 3 on them. when it sat for a bit you can turn it on an its got great receive an as it warms up it gets a lil weak. while i was on the radio today there was some other people on here today from different places an as my receive started to drop i had them to go to usb an lsb an fm my receive on everything but am works great none of the sideband nor fm drops at all so i guess what ever it is its on the am side of the radio its the only one doing it. thanks. |
