it is the 40 channel am/ssb version, commonly used in the USA around 1970 - 1980.

I know, there is a 23 channel version , too ( I have it, and the G E 3 - 5825 , which is a 40 channel am/ssb model ).

It MAY be the " model 1705 " you are referring to.

Any way, what is need is 2 seperate models ---

23 channel hy-gain V & 40 channel CE 3-5825

The vr & rv controls and what they do .

I have mailed some info to you , I hope it is of some help to you , as for the GE 3-5825 what is the board number on it as it will most likely be a cybernet board , I cannot find much on that one so far .

tech 858 --- a tad bit of overkill, but all is ok. I figured out the correct vr & rv controls by " researching " through the information YOU provided...in simple terms a bit of " trial & error & LEARNING ".

THANK YOU for the extra effort.

What I was expecting was the version of " going through an old SAMS PHOTOFACT BOOK " and copying down what each vr control does , along with the RV controls.....not what I recieved.

You did a whole bunch better.

Once again, thanks for your help. I also learned how much ( yet apart ) the hy- gain is from the G E, along with other brands / models that are similar.

You can either put this post out on display, or copy it and put on the wall of a happy COPPER member.

About the only CB rig stuff I mess with these days is the old 23 channel am / ssb stuff...better built radios than just AM models .
