I'm looking for a great headphone to use with my Icom IC-706mkIIg. I like to have one that covers the whole ear that way it doesn't make my hearing aid sqeal. Or one that is made for one that wears hearing aids but don't have to have them on when useing the headphone do to having a loud ajustable volume but then again it must be a cover all on the ear so it blocks out all around unwanted noice and you get only want is coming out of the radio. Does anyone had something like this that would be great on the Icom IC-706mkIIg? Thanks 73 STARFACE CEF#476 KI4NBE HAM#181 CVC#Ø14

Starface - George sorry i didint see this early . I know you have a hearing loss and so do i. I doint have any hearing in my right ear at all, My left ear has 30% loss and 45% tone loss. Hearing aids dose not help me at all. So i suspect you have to block any noise your hearing aid picks up! But i ask this question to you ( can you take your hearing aid off and put and open headset on?)If not. I would suggest mono headphones full ear protection with a built in amplification . Yes you can take a stereo head set make it mono with amplification simple as a plug. I made mine - look at Rat.. Sh...k and look at the cheap ones, They work! Starface - Better late than never. Without a doubt the finest headset I have ever used is the Heil Pro Set 5 with the HC5 mic element. I use it with my IC-7000 here in Iraq with a lot of background generator noise. It is a bit pricey once you get the needed adapter cables specific to your rig. It’s really easy listening and absolutely no complaints about my audio by any receiving stations. I don’t have hearing loss yet. Oh, this coupled with a hand or foot switch makes logging while speaking a breeze. HIGHLY suggested. |

Hal and Red Devil, I thank you both for your suggestion. This is what I bought: A Heil Sound Dual Side Traveler with thick over the ear pads.. it's working out very well for me. comes with the hand PTT and channel up and down switch and had to get the right adapter cable to work on my Icom Ic-706mkIIg. So I'm all set now. 73 STARFACE CEF#476 KI4NBE HAM#181 CVC#Ø14
