that has nothing to do with the mic gain doing that because the radio has good tx and rx it is just when you try to turn it down it starts squealing then changed varibles in it 2 times and nothing happens somthing on the board is the problem JAMES CAROLINAGOLD 865 CEF#416 CCRC#2

James, I know EXACTLY what your talking about! When I ran my AR3300 in my pickup truck all was fine with a D104 M6B but as soon as I hung a stock mic on it squealed. For whatever reason it wanted a bit of amplification on TX...even squealed on dead carrier. Usually worse using the linear Resetting SWR and double checking made no difference. I ran with the D104 just cracked open till I dropped the HR2510 in the AR's place. BTw...no such issues with that radio...stock or amplified mic. One thing you can try which did help on my Uniden Grant XL was having a GOOD chassis ground. Use one of the case screws and preferably some small braid to bond to metal under the dash or floorboard. Next thing to try is raise the carrier a wee bit at a time until you hopefully see the squeal go away at you preferred mic gain setting. Try your mic gain all the way open and a noise cancelling mic too. You'd be surprised at how good a brand new 636L sounds....RK56 as well. What mic are you using now?
